Ca' d'Oro Well Head

watercolour

The Ca’ d’Oro well head 1427-38 in Venice was carved in red Verona marble by the Venetian sculptor Bartolomeo Bon. The motifs represent Charity, Justice, Strength and the Heraldic arms of the Contarini family who commissioned the work.

“The artistry of the sculptor is breath taking. The detailing spectacular. I’ve tried to reproduce the majesty and beauty of sculpture in watercolour.”
