Gouache

I don’t like heights but the chance to get a closer look at the Karlskirche frescos in Vienna was too good an opportunity to miss. A lift is taken to a first platform and then a staircase continues to the ceiling and through the dome for views of the city. The platform was as far as I dared to venture; far enough to marvel at Johann Michael Rottmayr’s fresco and appreciate the scaffold construction. Far enough to fear the height - but that’s alright because I’m not yet ready to take the complete stairway to heaven!
